Reimagining Skatepark Concepts Through Interactive Experiences.

A skatepark is meant to be experienced, not just viewed. By transforming concept designs and renders into interactive 3D environments, clients and community members can explore the space from a first-person perspective, understand its scale and flow, and connect with the vision in a way that static images simply can’t. The result is a more engaging presentation that builds confidence, excitement, and a shared understanding of the final design.

What You’re Looking At

The video below demonstrates how the 3D software Unreal Engine, can transform skatepark proposals into immersive walkthroughs. Rather than relying solely on plans or still images, stakeholders can navigate the environment in real time, gaining a clearer understanding of scale, sightlines, and overall flow before construction begins.

Why Interactive?

Traditional concept drawings and static renderings can communicate a skatepark’s appearance, but they often struggle to convey how the space will actually feel. Details like scale, procession, sightlines, obstacle flow, and the relationship between features are best understood from a human perspective. By transforming a concept which is typically seen from a birds eye view, into an interactive 3D experience, clients and community members can explore the park as if they were already there. They can walk the pathways, stand at the top of a stair set, view obstacles from different angles, and experience the layout in a way that flat images simply cannot provide. The result is a clearer understanding of the design, more meaningful public engagement, and greater excitement for the project before construction ever begins.

What Are The Results Of Using A Interactive Experience?

Better Community Engagement

Community members can explore proposed parks from a first-person perspective before construction begins.

Improved Design Communication

Scale, spacing, and obstacle flow become immediately understandable.

Greater Excitement

Interactive experiences generate enthusiasm and make public presentations much more memorable and impactful.

About the Project

Created in Unreal Engine 5 to allow for interactive first-person exploration, and real time lighting.

Custom skatepark design, made with real world dimensions, scaled accurately.

The environment is properly optimized and designed to run smoothly on modern hardware.

This proof-of-concept environment was designed and developed in approximately 80 hours over three weeks.

About the Creator:

I’m a 3D Environment Artist with six years of experience specializing in creating immersive environments in Unreal Engine and Blender. As both an environment artist and lifelong skateboarder, I specialize in translating skatepark concepts into interactive experiences that allow communities and clients to explore and understand future spaces before they’re built. My other environments are available to view on my Artstation page, which is linked at the bottom of this page.

-6+ years of 3D environment experience
-Unreal Engine specialist
-Multiple completed interactive skatepark environments
-Playable executable demonstrations available upon request

I create interactive Unreal Engine experiences that allow stakeholders and community members to explore designs before construction begins.
